         NEWS RELEASE

        CLHSAA JOINS STARK
    COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
Over the last five years the Canton Lehman
High School Alumni Association has been
able to fund 50 scholarships each year and at
the same time develop a reserve of $25,000
for protection in a down economic cycle.  Over
the last three years we have turned our
attention to developing a method to
perpetuate the name of Canton Lehman High
    School and our Scholarship Fund.

We recognized that the Alumni population is
maturing.  We therefore must plan for the
future when the Association will not be able to
fund our Scholarship program and have
decided to in-vest our reserve funds into a
Fund within the Stark Community Foundation.

    The Stark Community Foundation is
comprised of many local well known
foundations such as Timken, Belden, Hoover
    Foundations and many smaller foundations
some of which have been established by well-
known Lehman graduates such as Norman
Jackson, B. J. Wilkins, Judge Harry Klide, and
the Schorsten and Sweitzer families to name
a few. The Foundation started in 1963 and
has returned over $100 million to the
community.  By joining this organization, we
will obtain the benefit of being part of a large
pooling of assets to obtain better investment
results and we will have a professional
investment group working for us.  They have
had an excellent record over the long haul.

An additional benefit (maybe more important)
is that we will have a venue that will make it
easier for our Alumni to endow funds such as
charitable gifts (bequests). The Alumni may
elect to place an amount in their Will to be
entrusted to this fund or Alumni may want to
take out a Charitable Annuity which will allow
them to get the interest monthly, most of it
being tax free, for the rest of their lives.   There
are many ways that the Alumni can take
advantage of bequeathing and providing the
Scholarship Fund a perpetual life time.  You
will be receiving a document that will provide a
number of ways to bequeath once the Fund
has been established in the Foundation.
There will be no change in the present
operation of the Canton Lehman Alumni
Association as it will continue just as it has in
the past.  Donations sent to our post office
box will go into our Scholarship Fund and we
will conduct the Scholarship program as we
    always have.

The Board of Directors of the Canton Lehman
High School Alumni Association at their
    February 8, 2012 meeting unanimously
approved our affiliation with the Stark
    Community Foundation for many reasons.
First, the Foundation will provide a
    professional management team to manage
the assets of our Scholarship fund, allowing
them to grow over time. Secondly, the
Foundation will provide a conduit for you and
your family to make estate planning decisions
knowing your gift will continue its good work
over a long period of time. Thirdly, it opens
other options for gifts to our Scholarship Fund
that you may want to discuss with your legal
and/or investment advisers. We hope you
share our vision to keep our scholarship
giving alive for years beyond our own. We will
continue to keep you informed on how you can
    participate.

UPCOMING EVENTS
                     CHICK-FIL-A DINNER

On April 23, 2012, we will again have a Scholarship
fundraiser at the Chick-Fil-A Restaurant on Dressler.
From 4:00 to 8:00 pm, Chick-Fil-A will be donating 10% of
all that they receive during that period to our
Scholarship Fund. This offer includes items bought at
the Drive Thru. If you come inside, you will be able to
catch some of your hard-working Board Members
clearing tables at the restaurant. What a great deal. We
have no expenses and yet get money for our
Scholarship Fund. This means that each and every one
of you should plan to have chicken that night. The more
you buy, the more we make. Chick-Fil-A is located at 5411
Dressler Road NW, just north of the Bob Evans
Restaurant. Please support the Canton Lehman Alumni
Association Scholarship Fund. Mark your calendars now.

                                   PASTA DINNER

The Pasta Dinner. Will be held at Rolando’s Restaurant at
2433 Whipple Ave., Canton, on Monday, May 7, 2012, from
5:00 to 8:00 pm. It will be an all-you-can-eat spaghetti
dinner for $8. Net profit for this event will go to the
Scholarship Fund, and we will have the use of the entire
restaurant for the event. In addition to the Canton Lehman
Alumni Board, several members of the Cavalier
Cheerleaders will be available and will sign autographs.
There will be a cash bar for those who like wine (or other
types of drinks) with your pasta. We are going to give a
gift to all those Lehman grads who attend. Reservations
may be made by calling one of the Board Members.
Tickets may also be purchased at the door. Please mark
your calendars and come enjoy the evening telling old
Lehman stories.
